The Omega Man - Counterfeit Gold Double Eagle Coins
'The Omega Man' is the name given to a counterfeit
coin producer who signed his creations with a minute Greek
letter omega. He is believed to have created over 20,000
fake 1907 ultra high-relief US$20 gold Double Eagle coins.
His forgeries are of such high quality that collectors will
still pay upwards of $1,000 for one, compared to a genuine
coin's value of about $50,000 to $100,000. The identity of
The Omega Man is still unknown.
